About Me.

I believe we are all works in progress. I certainly am. Before becoming a massage therapist, I worked in various service and hospitality jobs. Most of those jobs required attention to detail, a belief that customers deserve quality care, the ability to effectively problem solve, and a knack for staying positive, especially in the face of conflict. I enjoyed the challenges of these jobs, but as I matured, I realized that what I wanted most was to be of service to others.

During the last decade, I also was drawn to yoga. I was so enthusiastic studying this spiritual practice of bringing the body and mind together, that I became certified to teach. While I no longer do group classes, I use that information to suggest postures and breathing techniques to aid my clients to help themselves, both during and after the sessions.

I have been the fortunate recipient of massage and bodywork for several years, and have experienced firsthand how this kind of self-care can heal body issues, boost my energy, or paradoxically soften and relax me, depending on the therapist’s modality.

All these factors were at play when I decided to attend massage therapy school. The courses were extremely demanding, but I had confidence that in spite of my test anxiety, I could do well in the program and realize my dream of becoming a massage therapist.

I named my practice Metta Massage to reflect my understanding that service is at heart a practice of loving-kindness, compassion, friendliness, goodwill, and an active interest in others. There’s a Sanskrit mantra based on Metta from the Yogic traditions that means “May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life contribute in some way to the happiness and freedom for all.”

That’s what Metta Massage means. It reflects who I am and how I partner with my clients so they can experience health, wellbeing and joy.

Cancellation Policy

My business is by appointment only.

If you have to reschedule or cancel your appointment, you can do it up to 12 hours before the appointment through your appointment confirmation, or by calling or texting my business phone number:

865-397-5227.

If it is an emergency within 12 hours of your appointment, please call or text the business phone number 865-397-5227.

“No Show” or “Non-Emergency“ cancellations within 12 hours of a scheduled appointment.

It is disrespectful, not only to me as a small business person, but also to other clients who may have missed the opportunity to get the time and treatment they wanted or needed.

If this were to happen, I would need to collect payment in full, before another appointment could be made by you.

It all starts with love.

Metta (Maitrī): loving-kindness, benevolence, friendliness, amity, good will and active interest in others.
